The total production consisted of more than 200,000. All replacement parts are numbered to match. Cylinder is a modern replacement along with the backstrap and grips. 44 caliber with a 8” barrel. Gun has a light brown patina. It was used as a side arm by cavalry, infantry, artillery troops, and naval forces. Web doesn't look like there is a cartouche on the grips, but the 66,000 serial range does put it in 1862, and pretty much everything was going to the military, especially early war.
